At a glance
In a Turkish bath you wear a peştemal — a thin cotton wrap tied at the waist or chest — with swimwear underneath if you prefer, plus slippers on the wet marble. Everything is provided at Navitas Spa. Phones stay in the locker, voices stay low, you shower before entering, and you tell the attendant if the scrub or the water is too much.

What to wear
- Peştemal, provided — tied at the waist for men, at the chest for women
- Swimwear underneath: optional, common, entirely your choice
- Slippers, provided — the marble is wet
- Nothing else: jewellery and watches off, contact lenses out if steam bothers you
The unwritten rules
- Shower before entering the hammam, sauna, steam room or pool.
- Phones stay in the locker — the hammam is a phone-free space.
- Low voices; the marble echoes.
- Let the attendant lead; ask questions freely.
- Say at once if anything is too firm, too hot or uncomfortable.
- Rest afterwards; do not stand up quickly from the warm marble.
Tipping
Gratuities in Türkiye are appreciated and never required. If your attendant made the ritual memorable, a tip at the desk is a kind way to say so; there is no fixed percentage.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep my swimsuit on?
Yes, under the peştemal.
What if I do not want the scrub?
Say so — the foam massage alone is a gentle alternative, and the 25-minute Foam Massage is exactly that.
