At a glance
After a hammam scrub, the skin is new and slightly sensitive for a day: moisturise lightly once it has cooled, avoid direct sun, perfume, shaving and hot water for 24 hours, drink water, and let a clay or gold mask do the rest. The softness lasts several days; repeat a scrub every two to four weeks at most.

The first hour
- Rinse only with warm, not hot, water
- Pat dry; the skin is slightly pink from circulation — normal
- Drink water
- A clay or gold mask on the face if you booked one
- Light, fragrance-free moisturiser once the skin has cooled
The next 24 hours
- No direct sun; sunscreen if you must
- No perfume or alcohol-based products on the body
- No shaving or waxing
- Chlorinated pool: a short swim is fine, rinse afterwards
- Sauna: a short round only
Longer term
Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs moisturiser and massage oil far better than usual — which is why the packages put the scrub first. A kese every two to four weeks keeps the skin smooth without over-stripping it.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my skin a little red?
Circulation brought to the surface; it fades within an hour.
Can I fly straight after a scrub?
