The hammam at Navitas Spa, Hilton Istanbul Airport, is a purpose-built Turkish bath in white marble with a heated navel stone (göbek taşı) at its centre, marble basins (kurna) with copper taps along the walls and soft indirect lighting. Rituals here range from a 20-minute scrub to the 50-minute Sultan Hammam with two therapists.
The room
White marble on every surface, warmed from beneath. The göbek taşı — the raised marble platform — sits under a lit ceiling; around the walls are the kurna, the marble basins from which your attendant draws warm water with a copper bowl. It is quiet, humid and warm rather than hot, which is the point: the hammam works by softening rather than by sweating.
Beside the hammam are the experience showers and the steam room, so the classic sequence of heat, wash, cool and rest happens within a few steps.

Good to know
Rituals are by appointment with your attendant. Pestemal, towels and slippers are provided. The marble is warm, not hot; guests with heart conditions, high blood pressure or pregnancy should tell us first and may prefer a shorter session.

How hot is it?
