Cool rain, warm mist and the bucket shower beside the steam room
At a glance
The experience showers at Navitas Spa, Hilton Istanbul Airport, stand beside the steam room and sauna: a rain shower, a warm mist shower and a traditional bucket shower that tips a rush of cool water over you. They are the cooling stage of the thermal circuit — sauna or steam, shower, rest — and the rinse after the hammam.
The space
Three cubicles in grey stone off the thermal corridor. One is a rain shower, one a warm mist, and one carries the wooden bucket on a chain: pull the cord and cool water falls in a single rush. Beside them the glass door opens into the mosaic steam room.
Why cooling matters
The benefit of heat comes in the contrast. A cool shower after ten minutes of sauna or steam closes the pores, brings the heart rate down and leaves the body alert; without it the heat simply tires you. Two or three rounds of heat and cold, then a rest, is the classic circuit.
