At a glance
For an aromatherapy massage, choose the blend by how you want to feel afterwards: lavender-based blends calm and help sleep, citrus and rosemary revive, eucalyptus and mint clear the head and airways. At Navitas Spa you smell two or three options before the session; tell the therapist about pregnancy or allergies, as some oils are not suitable.

Three families
| You want to | Reach for | Best time |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep tonight | Lavender, chamomile, sandalwood | Evening; before a night flight |
| Wake up and stay up | Sweet orange, grapefruit, rosemary | Morning after a westbound flight |
| Breathe and think clearly | Eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree | After a cold cabin; before a meeting |
How the oils are used
Essential oils are diluted in a plant carrier oil at low concentration and applied with slow, flowing strokes; you breathe them and absorb a little through the skin. The scent fades within an hour or two. Unscented Swedish massage is the alternative if fragrance is not for you.
Cautions
- Pregnancy: several oils are unsuitable; tell us and we adapt or suggest an unscented massage
- Allergies to nuts (carrier oils) or specific plants
- Epilepsy: avoid rosemary and some others — tell us
- Photosensitivity: citrus oils and sunbathing do not mix
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring my own oil?
Ask when you book; where it is safe to use, we are happy to.
Is aromatherapy massage firm?
Gentle to medium; it is a relaxation massage. Choose Balinese or deep tissue for firm work.
