A shallow, hammered copper or brass bowl, sometimes tinned inside, that the attendant fills at the kurna and tips over you — warm water before the scrub, warm water to rinse the foam. The sound of it is the sound of the hammam. The bowls in our hammam at Hilton Istanbul Airport are copper, kept polished, and appear in most of the photographs on this site.
