The attendant fills a cotton cloth (the lif or a special foam bag) with air and olive-oil soap, then squeezes it so that a mass of warm foam falls over you. Worked in with long strokes it becomes the köpük masajı, the foam massage — the most photographed moment of a Turkish bath and, for most guests, the most relaxing.
