Marble basins set along the walls of the hot room, each with two taps — hot and cold — from which the attendant draws water with a copper bowl to pour over you. In the Ottoman bath one washed at the kurna rather than in it; the basin is never entered. Our hammam has kurnas with copper taps beneath the wall lights.
